With her groundbreaking immersive photography book UNSUPERVISED preparing to release in the Fall of 2024 and a full season of work taking her from South Korea, Montreal and Australia to London, Cyprus and all throughout the USA, Kirsten Lewis continues to be the industry leader in the documentary family photography space. She is hired for her expertise in creating art out of real life, every day moments. She is rehired every year for the genuine, undying connection she makes with each and every person she has the privilege to photograph.
Her pictures are dynamic, engaging, thought provoking and emotion evoking. They resonate with a global audience because they give viewer permission to finally feel seen and heard in an honest and vulnerable space within themselves.

While my job is to tell your story of your family, it is so much more
a collision of life experiences between you and me
than it is a documentation of what is happening in front of my lens.
My photographs are ultimately a reflection of recognition.
I create a space in which you feel safe being 100% yourselves. I nurture an environment that honors and respects each moment, both the joyous and challenging. I seek to celebrate all the details that make each member of your family unique, important and worthy of that recognition. The only way I can do that is to fully immerse myself into your lives with transparency, curiosity and vulnerability. I will laugh with you. I will cry with you. I will ask a lot of questions because i am genuinely interested. I will share my own stories and be fully committed to learning so many more about you and yours. At the end of the day, the pictures I make will be a collaboration. All the things that make me laugh, me cry, ask questions and listen intently will be imbedded into your photographs. It's all my own experiences in life that serve as a compass to guide me through the day, to witness our overlap and memorialize that, it is how I can honestly and authentically stay true to myself while giving you the best gift I can give to you:
Evidence of how you love and are loved. Each and every day.
My job is not to judge you.
My job is not to shame you.
My job is not to hide behind my camera and hide from you.
My job is to see myself in each one of you.
My job is to embrace our shared experiences as parents, as children, as family.
My job is to meet you just where you are and remind you that you are doing an amazing job.
My job is to love myself a little more by falling in love with all of you.
"I just wanted to point out that I have never felt so loved and blessed before as much as I did when I finished watching your slideshow. It's so hard to describe, me and Vero just stood silent, looking at the screen after it was done, just silent... it was such a powerful moment, so deep and so delicate.
I know I'm a blessed man, but in many was, I wasn't able to SEE how blessed until I was shown that through your eyes. THANK YOU. Now I know. You gave me the gift of joy, of love, of hope and many many many more. I will be always in debt with you for this wonderful gift.
And by the way, I do know how much I love Isaac, but I was never show how much he loves me back until your magical photographs came across tonight. I will never forget this, never. Thank you so so so very much
my friend,
thank you forever..."
